A new year is the perfect time to make some changes, and I am.
It's been an ongoing process over the last year. One thing at a time, nothing too big or too hasty. But I have been changing things. I have lost almost 50 pounds through keto, started exercising, and have been getting out more, even in the shitty winter weather. I have also lessened my social media presence, because ultimately, sharing the minutiae of life on Facebook is not in itself a life.
Changes have been a-happenin' on here, too.
I've been blogging on and off for several years now, almost as long as I've been writing. I think it helps me exercise my writing muscles. But, I also think blogging several times a week, or even a month, is distracting me from, well, everything. I write blog posts when I should be doing laundry or wiping down the counters or saying "Fuck all that" and actually, y'know, going outside. I write blog posts when I should be outlining another novel. And I decided that has to stop.
The changes have already begun, I'm just acknowledging them now. I've slowed way down writing blog posts, deleted older ones no one was reading anyway, all in hopes it would help. And it has.
I'm not going to stop blogging, but I am not going to be doing it as often. Into the Unknown is the only series that will publish with any regularity. I'm still planning on publishing one mystery post a month. And updates I have on my work, of course, will show up here, too.
The changes don't end there, but the rest of them are more cosmetic, personal, and minor. This website moved, got a new domain and makeover. My blog and social media pages remain active, just not as active as they used to be. And in the words of my sister, I'm still here. Just...less here than I used to be.
